9 men in burqas

9 men in burqas for a day. This is what they had to say

9 men in burqas as a project aimed at inviting nine men to wear a burqa and record their entire day and feelings/ observations by the end.

I attempted to put them through uncharted territory and hear something rare from contemporary men, for a piece of garment that when initiated may very well have had minimal or no say from women

A burqa as a piece of garment is singularly worn by women in order to prosper their physical and spiritual modesty, and to strengthen their connection with Allah.

By putting these men on the other side of a burqa, I wanted to explore how they feel as they go about shopping in the streets, eating, drinking, playing, and interacting with each other, something that women do on a daily basis behind this veil

When asked to summarise their experience in one or two words at the end of the day, these men took longer a period of time than I expected to come up with an answer

Freedom
Blessed
Anxious
Pious
Mother/sister
Heat
Peaceful
Hindered
Protected
